Paying Off Your Debt With Speed

Filed under: news — Tags: — admin @ 5:08 pm

It has often been said that time is money and it is no different with debt. The longer it takes you to repay your debt, the more money it is going to cost you in interest payments. So, repaying your debt quickly does have advantages, but it will take dedication and the willingness to no longer carry credit card balances and pay interest. Credit card debt solutions can be the answer.

Your first step should be to stop using your credit cards. Cut them up if you have to. You are not going to pay your debt off quickly if you are still charging on them. They say cash is king for a reason and that is a good policy to follow. Put all plastic away, even your debit card, and learn to live on cash. There is a lot to be said for the envelope system.

Keep a record of your spending. Most people do not realize what they spend outside the home that could be saved. Buying coffee at Starbuck’s and eating lunch out each day are two things that add to the laute factor. Keeping a spending journal will help you identify areas of spending that can be eliminated or at the very least, reduced. This will give you a jumpstart towards alleviating your debt.

If you have debt that is substantial or you feel overwhelmed, you may want to think about talking to a debt management company. These companies are nonprofit and will help you get enrolled in a debt management plan that can have you debt free in as little as 3 years. They will consolidate your unsecured debts without a loan and will reduce your interest rates to below 10%.

You can expedite your debt relief effort by increasing your income. Even a few hundred extra dollars a month can greatly reduce your repayment time and the amount that you will be repaying. Getting started is the first step to getting out of debt. Get your bills out and develop a workable repaying plan or contact a credit counseling organization for help.
