The FBI’s NCIC is a “countrywide” database of records that the FBI supervises. It’s been referred to as pinnacle of code enforcement-a digital clearinghouse of crime data that could be used by virtually every criminal justice agency across the nation, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The National Crime Data Center,was launched on January 27, 1967 with five files and 356,784 records.
