The Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve REDD Project in Indonesia has been placed on hold, Ecosystem Marketplace reported at the end week. The project has suffered a significant setback as a result of at the end month’s choice by community administration officials to palm over half of the project’s land to a palm oil plantation. The latest developments encircling what was perhaps one of the most promising REDD projects in the earth, immediately cast a shadow on the success of REDD initiatives altogether.
