Compensation is a legal remedy that is available to unlawfully dismissed employees for the losses that they suffer. The remedy is accompanied by a legal duty upon the employee to capture reasonable steps to mitigate his loss. However, the duty works to the benefit of the employer and the detriment of the employee.
