Simon and Garfunkel once famously sang “I am a rock, I am an island.” For whatever cause, we all seem worried to inquiry for aid, much from those closest to us, regardless of whether we demand or deserve it. There’s something in our society that seems to dictate that we have to do it all ourselves – either a perception that we’ll be seen as weak, or just simply pride.
