Do you have some cash to trade but are do not know where to put it? In todays high volume financial markets there are many places for your money, some safe, some not so safe. Lets look at currencies first. Currency trading became an option to the retail sector from the late 1990s. Many new traders have started trading forex.

Currency trading is where one currency is bought and another currency is simultaneously sold. Curreny pairs are traded on margin and should always be considered high risk. All this means is they are bought with money that you borrow from your broker. Plenty of Forex Brokerages allow you borrow over 100X the value of your account. Using this amount of margin is not advisable.

Another option is stock trading. The stock market can often be lower risk than the forex. However, certain stocks contain a lot more risk than others. Blue chip stocks are often considered to be relatively safe. These are stocks in firms that have been around for a years or even decades and have been profitable consistantly. Great examples of blue chip stocks are Bank of America and General Motors.

Theres also stocks in smaller companies. These stocks are often significantly more volatile than blue chip stocks as the profits of these companies is often less secure.

Even risker are penny stocks. These are stocks priced less than . They tend to have high volatility. massive gains and losses can happen rapidly, so its imperitive that you are very careful with these.

This site here offers a lot of good information on stock trading.

There is also the futures market. Futures are contracts that give the trader the obligation to buy an instrument at a date in the future. There are futures trading contracts for many instruments including oil, gold, wheat, forex, rice and many more.

Futures are also traded on margin like forex. Futures trading for speculatiion is very risky. There is also a ough learning curve to get your head around before trading. However, this said, the returns can be excellent.
