State University Of New York Shields Students From Credit Cards

The Charge card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure (CARD) Act has a component that addresses the marketing towards college students with charge cards. College is an increasingly expensive undertaking, and numerous a student has wanted for debt relief upon graduation having to pay back the money lenders that helped finance their education also as high charge card premiums. 68 campuses are within the state network of public universities called the SUNY system, or SUNY, have put up barriers making it so credit scores for students are safe while in college.

Marketing not loved by SUNY

CNN explains that State University of New York made it nearly impossible to market on any campuses that support SUNY. State Attorney General Mario Cuomo was in charge of this. SUNY schools can’t provide data to credit card companies for the purpose of offering cards to college students, without the written prior consent of students. Schools aren’t permitted to get paid for this marketing. Cuomo has recommended all universities in New York schools adopt the very same reforms. Credit card company advertising on campus will even be monitored and controlled by the university.

No understanding of this by students

Charge card debt has shown that college students are very vulnerable. Sallie Mae found that the average college student carries more than $4,000 in charge card debt upon graduation, on top of their unsecured loans to finance college. Numerous college students end up paying down these debts by just dropping out of school. They even get loan refinancing occasionally to help with credit scores. Getting a good job depends on credit scores considering employers check that. College students who hurt their credit scores with charge cards lose jobs as well.

The American Dream becoming a debt nightmare

The middle class is having an even harder time of living the American Dream of going to college, getting a good job and starting out right. This is because of tuition. Tuition is just going up each and every year.
