Having a good drive down the road then a sudden flat tire occurs can sometimes ruin the day. Don’t let it get you down though. It’s better that you be positive and just charge it to experience and get on with fixing the tire. Read on to learn how to change your car tires.

The first thing that you should do is to pull up to the shoulder. Make sure that you set the parking break. This is important so that you will not endanger yourself. Remember that it should always be safety first and foremost.

The next step is to remove the cover or hub cap of your wheel. Use a lug wrench to loosen the lugs. This is an important tip; to always have a lug wrench in your trunk in case of emergencies. As you loosen it in a counterclockwise motion, do not completely remove the lugs yet. Hold it like that for awhile then do the third step.

And then you need to position your jack properly. Make sure that you jack up the car slowly and observe proper care so that you do not get crushed or anything. As soon as the wheels are off the ground you can remove the lug nuts.

After removing the flat tire, place the new or spare tire on the same place. Put the lug nuts back as to where they are supposed to be and hand tighten them onto the rim. Make sure that you do not tighten the lug nuts all the way. Re-install the cover or hub cap of your wheel and place all remaining parts into your car first before tightening the lugs completely.
